Self-incentive
What is self-incentive?
Self-incentive means planning a reward for yourself that depends on effort or progress in a behavior. A graduate student might decide: two hours of thesis writing, then an episode of their favorite show.
How it works
The plan is the incentive. Actually giving yourself the reward is a separate technique, self-reward. The condition matters: the show follows the writing session.
The Behavior Change Technique Taxonomy identifies self-incentive as technique 10.7.
