Antecedents, Cues & Environment
Antecedents are the events and conditions that come before a behavior, including cues that draw attention to an action. The surrounding environment also affects what’s possible or convenient to do, such as whether the right tools are nearby or other people are available to help.
These entries cover ways to change that setting: introducing useful reminders, reducing exposure to cues for unwanted behavior, and rearranging the physical environment. They also explain the opportunities and limits created by a person’s surroundings.
