Nudging & Choice Architecture

Choice architecture is the way a decision is presented. It includes which options you see, how they’re described, and what happens if you don’t choose anything. Nudges change that setting to influence behavior while keeping options available and avoiding substantial changes to economic incentives.

The entries cover default settings, message framing, social norms, and other ways of arranging a choice. They also explain boosts, which aim to develop people’s ability to make decisions, and the ethical questions involved in influencing a choice.
