Plasticity, Learning & Memory

The nervous system changes as we develop and learn. Neuroplasticity is the broad name for that ability. This category covers changes in the connections between neurons, the insulation around nerve fibers, and the activity of genes.

Long-term potentiation and long-term depression are two well-studied examples. They involve lasting increases or decreases in how strongly one neuron affects another. Other entries look at how connections are formed, maintained, or removed over time.
