Working Memory

What is working memory?

Working memory lets us temporarily hold and work with information. It supports activities such as following an argument, solving a problem, reasoning, and understanding language.

The useful distinction is between merely retaining information for a moment and using it while thinking. Both storage and manipulation matter to the concept.
